Clubhouse Rebuild: Planning Underway

On March 17, 2024, the Ward’s Island Clubhouse — built by members from 1937 to 1938 and at the heart of island life for nearly ninety years — was destroyed by fire. The loss was felt deeply by the entire community.
We are pleased to share that the WIA executive has begun the process of developing plans to rebuild the Clubhouse. This is a significant undertaking, and we want to make sure it is done thoughtfully and with full community input.
What We Know
Planning is in the early stages. The executive is working to assess the site, explore funding options, and consult with the community and the City of Toronto. No timeline or design has been confirmed yet.
We are committed to keeping the community informed at every step. Details will be shared as soon as they are available — through this website, at community meetings, and via the WIA newsletter.
In the Meantime
The Pavilion remains open and available for community events. The 2026 Pavilion Opening Celebration is planned for Sunday, May 18, 2026. We hope to see you there.
